NAHU's Prescription for Healthcare Reform

As a professional, always seeking to improve my knowledge and resources, I have become a member of the National Association of Healthcare Underwriters, the premier Health Insurance industry association dedicated to enhancing its members' ability to meet the health, financial and retirement security needs of all Americans through education, advocacy and professional development. NAHU works to improve its members' ability to meet these needs of all Americans through education, advocacy and professional development.

With that goal in mind, the recent popularity of discussing things like universal health care/single payor healthcare, access for all, and just plain overall healthcare reform leads me to share a bit of the other side's opinion on the matter. Single payor/Universal Healthcare versus access for all are huge topics, and are much too much to tackle in this short newsletter. Remember, I am committed to 3-4 minutes of your time a month. What I do need to do this month though is provide you access to NAHU's published HealthyAccess Proposal. It is two pages, but packed very imformative and realistic solutions preserving the choice and freedoms the current system has, and bringing in changes that will produce positive results.

Of note to those in favor of a system like Canada's, be aware the number one complaint Canadian's have is access. They wait 17 weeks on average for life preserving procedures and medically necesary tests. Also, there lowest tax base is 55%. In reality, the paradox is they want what we have and we want what they have. Is the grass really greener, or can we make changes to our current system at significantly less cost and begin to improve it to meet the needs of our people with a system that provides us our greatest gift: freedom of choice?
